Jemma visited the Boaters Beach resturant in Cleethorpes just over a month ago (March 21st). She was with her family to support her mothers partner, Mike Cane, who was performin in the area. This Is Grimsby posted a mini-interview with her, asking her about High School Musical, her schoolwork, any future plans she has and penny slot machines! [Thanks Jenna!]

“The film recently came out on DVD so I’m beginning to get recognised a lot more. It’s still really strange when people say ‘hey look! There’s Tiara’. I got into the Sylvia Young Music School in London –  we have an agency attached to the school and that’s how I landed the audition. I live in London, but it is really nice to come back up north to be with my family and friends –  they keep my feet firmly on the ground.”

AS High School Musical fever continues to sweep the nation, one of its stars proves she still has her feet firmly on the ground. Jemma McKenzie-Brown, who played Tiara Gold in the Disney Epic High School Musical 3, visited Boaters in Cleethorpes on Saturday for a special family meal.

“I absolutely love it here. It is the third time my family and I have been – we always know we will get a good meal. I used to come to Cleethorpes with my family when I was younger. About 12 of us would cram in the camper van and go to Pleasure Island or the beach. I always play on the amusements, especially the penny slot machines. I never win anything, but I think it’s great fun.”

The 14-year-old from Beverly was catapulted into the limelight last year when she secured her role as Tiara Gold, staring alongside Hollywood heart-throb Zac Effron.

Jemma was in Cleethorpes to support her mum’s partner Mike Cane, a singer and entertainer who performed at Boaters on Saturday evening. A number of young fans gathered at the restaurant to catch a glimpse of Jemma.

After filming Jemma has remained close friends with all of her fellow cast members.
“High School Musical 3 was my first feature film. My favourite thing about the whole experience was probably working with such a great cast. When I first went over there I thought they were all going to be dead ‘Hollywood-y’ but there weren’t at all they were lovely. We have all remained friends and I am meeting Zac next week when he comes to London for the premiere of his new film.”

Jemma, who has already sat three GCSEs, is currently concentrating on her studies. “I don’t have any more films in the pipeline at the moment. I’ve not been asked to do the next High School Musical because they are going with a completely new cast. I’m back at school for the moment because I’m studying for my GCSE’s which I’m taking over the next couple of years. I’ve already taken three of them so I need to carrying on working really hard.”

Rosie Jones (nine) from Grimsby is a huge High School Musical fan –  she was delighted to meet one of her idols.
she said: “I am a very big fan of High School Musical. I’ve seen all of the films and it was such a surprise to see Jemma at the restaurant. My favourite character is Zac Effron.”
