24-hour Famine

Sunday
Feb 15,2009

Shannon here again. Here’s an interview about Jemma becoming involved in the 24-hour famine campaign. Jemma met with Eleanor Tomlinson from ‘Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging’. I also added one LQ photo courtesy of This Is Hull and East Riding and 4 *exclusive* photographs straight from Jemma’s family themselves. Plug; the girls met in Lempicka Cafe, Beverly. Cafe owner is Aletia Kent. If you’re in the area, check it out.

Beverley film actresses Eleanor Tomlinson, 16, and 14-year-old Jemma McKenzie-Brown have met up for the first time. Eleanor, who landed a part in the film Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, also plays an ambassadorial role for Christian Aid charity World Vision.

She is fronting the organisation’s 24-hour famine campaign to encourage young people to raise funds by being sponsored to give up something important to them for the day.

Beverley High School pupil Eleanor said: “It was great to meet Jemma for the first time, although I’m surprised it has not happened before because we have so many connections. Although we both hail from Beverley, we also have a lot in common through our work in the performing arts and film industry, and she is also a lovely person. World Vision’s 24-hour famine campaign is also dear to my heart, and I was delighted when Jemma said she would like to get involved and give something up for a day.”

Jemma Tips Burnley girl

Tuesday
Dec 23,2008

A STAR of High School Musical 3 has tipped an 11-year-old Burnley girl to become the next big thing.

Jemma McKenzie-Brown, who played Tiara Gold in the smash hit movie, said she was amazed by the performance of Jessica Parkinson in Annie at Burnley.

She was invited to see the performance by Jessica’s brother Chris, who attends the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London with Jemma.

Jessica, who performs with the BASICS junior theatre group, said: “It was great to know Jemma was in the audience.

“All my friends were taking photos of her with their phones before the show and getting autographs.

“I’d love to follow in the footsteps of her and my brother in theatre.”

The aspiring performer, who attends Blessed Trinity high school, left her mark on Jemma, who has also appeared BBC drama The Amazing Mrs Pritchard with Jane Horrocks.

Jemma said: “Jessica owns the stage when she is performing.

“There is something about her that shows she belongs at centre stage, and her voice is just incredible.

“There is star quality there for sure.”

Jemma was not the only one that was left pleasantly surprised by the youngster’s portrayal of Annie.

Chris said: “Because I live in London I don’t make it back up here much, so to see my little sister do that was amazing.

“Jemma grabbed my hand when my sister started singing, because it really was something else.

“Me and my Mum were so proud of her up there, she definitely has what it takes to go further in theatre that is for sure.”

Just recently, Jemma McKenzie Brown was featured in Fabulous Magazine UK with other hot new celebrities. J? The Hollywood Star. Hopefully we get a copy of the issue. So if you guys have it, kindly share it with us if you want to.

The Hollywood Star

Who: Jemma McKenzie-Brown, 14

Hot because: She’s starred in a box-office blockbuster and now has star-struck teens demanding her autograph… and she’s only 14. Still a student at London’s Sylvia Young Theatre School, Jemma’s already appeared in British television shows M.I. High and The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, but her big break came when she won the role of Tiara Gold in the Disney smash hit High School Musical 3. She was such a success in the film, she’s currently auditioning for other blockbuster roles and those in the know are calling her the next Keira Knightley. Not bad going for a schoolgirl from Yorkshire.

She says: “I don’t even know how much I earned from the movie. My mum put it all in a trust fund for me. If she hadn’t, I would have spent it all in Topshop by now.”

We say: She’ll have swapped Topshop for Tom Ford by this time next year.

Included are two photoshoots. We’ll find them in better and higher quality. So, stay sitted and keep coming back to JOnline. Thanks to Fabulous Magazine official site for the photoshoots. There are also personal photos that were leaked from MySpace and J’s not ashamed of it… Why would she be?
